Creative Solutions are proud to be associated with The Chesil Trust, the local charity for Dorset children and young people, which gives disabled and disadvantaged youngsters from across the county the chance to learn sailing skills, increasing their teamwork, practical skills, leadership and responsibility. It’s a wonderful, unique charity that does some fabulous work, and I hope you will be able to support their initiative.kids-in-boat-1.png

The 2008 Christmas appeal brings the concept of ethical Christmas gifts closer to home, offering you the chance to buy a gift that pays for one young person to undertake a special sailing training session.  The purchaser gets an attractive Christmas card and fridge magnet to keep or to send to their friend or relative as a long-lasting reminder of the good work their gift has funded.
Please support them by sending a cheque for £25 made out to The Chesil Trust, to TCT Christmas Appeal, Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy, Osprey Quay, Portland, DT5 1SA.   Packs are also on now on sale at the Tourist Information Office in Shaftesbury (as well as at Sherborne, Dorchester, Weymouth, Bridport and Lyme Regis), or you can follow this link to their supporters website where you can buy on-line.

I’ve just had a great meeting with Karen Olsen of Mobile Media Ltd and she has explained the many benefits of using her ‘Advans’.

fp-van.jpgThey are perfect for a couple of campaigns we have coming up for two of our clients and we look forward to including them in their marketing campaigns.

So it looks like they will be featuring amongst our recommended forms of advertising - and I can assure you there are not that many - for all future marketing campaigns.

Guy Lavender, South West Director for the 2012 Games

Weymouth and Portland is changing – and it is the marine industry that is leading that change.

That was the message that delegates heard at Osprey Quay Marine Day, organised by Creative Solutions at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.

The once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the marine industry in Dorset, from now to 2012 and beyond, was the focus of the event, which formed part of this year’s Open4Business programme.

More than 100 delegates from Dorset and further afield heard from a range of speakers on the topic of maximising the opportunity of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games for the marine industry. They also caught up with the latest developments at the new £24m Dean & Reddyhoff Portland Marina, the Weymouth & Portland National Sailing Academy and Osprey Quay.

Though the contributors focused on different elements, the common theme that emerged was that while the Olympics would be important, even more significant was the opportunity to achieve a lasting effect on the area’s economy.

Among the speakers were Guy Lavender, South West Director for the 2012 Games, Mark Stubbings, chief executive of the sailing academy, and Gary Fooks, Dorset 2012 Legacy Manager.

Gareth Jones, regeneration and business manager for Weymouth and Portland Borough Council, told delegates that building a reputation as a centre for marine excellence offered the chance to reposition the area in the minds of residents, businesses and visitors.

Ian Girling, area operations manager for Business Link, said: “We’re already seeing tangible benefits, with new partnerships being formed and businesses developing.”

It has seen a fantastic turnout, proving that marine businesses are determined not to let this opportunity pass by.”
