Yacht Racing

Yacht RacingIf there is an ounce of competitive spirit in your group, whether it be a corporate group looking for a team building day or a private group looking for a daytime activitiy that will really get the blood rushing, then yacht racing can provide the ideal solution for you.

Your day starts off with a team briefing whilst enjoying a bacon roll, tea or coffee and this is where the anticipation of the day to come really starts to come home – however you are quickly put atyour ease in the expert hands of professionally qualified skippers who run through the day’s activities.

Before you know it you are on your boat being kitted out with your team gear including wet weather and safety gear to make sure your experience is safe and enjoyable. Whether you have had previous sailing experience or not this will be a day to remember starting with an orientation of your yacht, safety briefing and basic instruction of how to use the boat equipment.

Okay – so now it’s time to go sailing and for the first hour or so you will be learning how to handle the boat through tacks and gybes taking in the basic rules of yacht racing, this is where your skipper can asses your skill levels and get you ready for the races to come – we like to think of them more as ‘competitive cruises’.

Before your onboard lunch you should be able to fit in Race 1 which can then be analyised during lunch and the many questions you will no doubt have will be expertly answered by your skipper and his mate. After lunch races 2 & 3 will be much more competitive given your newly learnt skills and you will be surprised how quickly your team has come together with one mission to cross the finish line first.

Then it’s back to the marina and time to pack the boat away and go for a well earned drink and hopefully a celebration of your win at the prizegiving ceremony.
